Marco Polo names Cebu hotel best in Asia

Hans Hauri, Alfred Ty, Eric Waldburger, Cebu Vice Governor Agnes Magpale, Julie Najar and Antonio Abacan toast Marco Polo’s success.

MANILA, Philippines - The five-star Marco Polo Plaza Cebu has been named Hotel of the Year in Asia by the Marco Polo Hotels organization. It is now considered a paragon among the dozen prestigious Marco Polo establishments in the region.

The recognition takes into consideration Marco Polo Plaza Cebu’s exemplary performance in the aspects of business results, overall guest experience, quality of accommodations, dining experience and associate satisfaction.

At the recent event held at the hotel celebrating the milestone achievement, GT Capital Holdings group chairman George S.K. Ty pledged a donation of P10 million for various local beneficiaries in Cebu and Toledo in the field of education.

In order to sustain and further the market leadership it has breached, developer Federal Land is dedicating a business group to support the further development of its Marco Polo branded hotel and residences.

Cathay International Resources Corporation will focus on the development of community facilities within the Marco Polo Residences Cebu area. The Marco Polo Plaza Cebu hotel will also be upgraded with additional amenities and facilities, such as new F&B outlets and a renovated grand ballroom that will double its capacity.

All these enhancements are geared toward increasing the competitiveness of Federal Land hotel developments amid the burgeoning MICE (meetings, incentives, conventions and exhibitions) market in the tourist destination of Cebu City.

Situated within easy walking distance from the hotel is its branded residential component, the Marco Polo Residences. It has similarly solidified its status as the preferred upscale address in Metropolitan Cebu having recently been adjudged as the Best Condominium Development in Cebu at the 2014 Philippines Property Awards. Its first tower is now ready for occupancy, while construction of the rest of the development is in full swing.
