10 most Googled local travel spots in 2013

MANILA, Philippines - Entertainment park Sky Ranch in Tagaytay City garnered the most number of searches among the Philippines' travel spots on Google this year.

Interest for the SM Land-owned development which features a giant Ferris wheel grew over time and peaked in October and December with searches mostly from the Calabarzon region and Metro Manila.

The Mövenpick Resort and Spa in Mactan, Cebu was the second most searched-for local destination, while UNESCO world heritage site Tubbataha Reef where a United States Navy minesweeper ran aground earlier this year landed third on the list.

Formerly known to be a mountaineering spot, Pico de Loro in Nasugbu, Batangas ranked fourth on Google as the place saw a beach and country club development grow in popularity in recent years.

Tugawe Cove Resort in Caramoan, Camarines Sur fronting a paradise-like beach placed fifth. Potipot Island, dubbed Zambales' 'Little Boracay of the North', was also popular this year, ranking sixth in the list.

Filipinos were also curious about Bulacan's Amana Waterpark, a pool resort, and made it rank seventh.

Luxury island destination Misibis Bay in Legazpi, Bicol, meanwhile, earned raves from local celebrities and was searched for enough to place it eighth on the list.

Online users also explored Nuvali, an Ayala-owned recent commercial and residential development in Laguna, as well as Laiya resorts in neighboring Batangas as possible vacation spots during the summer peak season this year. The destinations ranked ninth and tenth, respectively, completing the list.
