Watch Nora Aunor in ‘Dementia’

MANILA, Philippines - In Perci Intalan’s horror film Dementia, Nora Aunor plays a woman suffering from dementia who is sent home to Batanes to help jog her memory. Instead, she starts hallucinating, and her niece, played by Jasmine Curtis-Smith, wonders if it’s an effect of her dementia or if she really is seeing things. Horror is a genre that we haven’t seen Nora in for some time, but it’s still unmistakably Ate Guy, whose eyes speak a language of their own. Dementia is in cinemas now.

Support indie comics at the Meganon comic book launch

To most Filipinos, the phrase “Meganon!” is known as the catchphrase of a radio DJ. But for an informed few, Meganon is a Filipino publishing house that aims to support a sustainable community of indie comics. And if you haven’t read their books, you’re in for a Ka-pow! moment. They will be having their comic book launch today at Fully Booked, BGC, and you can buy Filipino indie comics, meet the artists, and win original artworks and limited edition collector’s items. The Meganon Facebook page compared seeing local comic books to seeing a unicorn. Now, imagine a glorious stable of the mythical creatures, ready for you to ride them into the sunset. That’s what Meganon’s comic book launch will be like. The launch will begin at 5:30 p.m., fourth floor of Fully Booked.
