Seoul invades Manila

MANILA, Philippines - Korea’s recent surge in the entertainment industry has sparked tremendous interest from abroad, particularly South East Asia, and most especially here in the Philippines. Beginning with TV dramas such as Winter Sonata, the success soon spread to the field of movies and popular music.   In fact, K-Pop is currently Asia’s hottest music industry.  Fans all over the world have been captivated by K-Pop stars’ good looks, amazing dance moves, and catchy tunes.

On Feb. 9 at the Aliw Theater, “Seoul Invasion” will happen with Tahiti, A-Prince, Excite, Delight and Mellow:D  not just performing for their fans but also interacting with them.

Known as the Hallyu wave, it is nothing short of a cultural tempest much like the upsurge of rock n’ roll, or America’s hippie culture in the 70s.  Against the growing tide of globalization, K-Pop, or Hallyu has come as a transformative counter-tide that fully illustrates creative industries development as the west has bannered it.
