'Glenda' destroys homes of 150 pit bulls

MANILA, Philippines — The powerful typhoon Glenda not only killed dozens of people and knocked down power in several provinces, it also destroyed a dog pound for pit bulls in Laguna.

The Laguna Pit Bull Center sustained a significant amount of damage from the cyclone, the strongest to have entered the country so far this season.

"We urgently need your help in rebuilding the home of over 150 precious rescued pit bulls," the organization said in a statement on Thursday.

The dog pound said that any amount will help restore the shelters for the pit bulls, which await adoption to settle in permanent homes.

The Laguna Pit Bull Center enumerated the following steps for those who are eager to help:

2. Click on "Donate."
3. Follow the instructions. When asked to review the donation, click on "Add special instructions to CARA" and write “TAYO-TAYO”.
