WATCH: Binibining Pilipinas queens on how to ‘cheat’ while staying fit

MANILA, Philippines — Do Binibining Pilipinas 2018 beauty queens deprive themselves of “cheat food” to stay fit?

During a recent Dairy Queen event where they are the endorsers, Bb. Pilipinas Intercontinental 2018 Karen Gallman, Bb. Pilipinas Grand International 2018 Eva Psychee Patalinjug, Bb. Pilipinas Globe 2018 Michelle Gumabao and Bb. Pilipinas International 2018 Ahtisa Manalo shared their tips on how to stay fit while still being able to enjoy eating sweets.

For Karen, she does not think a person should deprive herself because it will harm one’s body and mindset.

“As long as six days in a week, you can eat healthy, eat vegetables, and exercise, why stop having an ice cream or cheesecake, that's absolutely fun as long as you maintain the exercise and eat healthy throughout the week,” Karen said.

Balancing food and exercise, according to Eva, is important for a person so a cheat day for a week is not bad at all.

“As long as you know how to balance your food and exercise, you can have one cheat day naman eh. It doesn’t bite you naman eh. Parang pwede ka namang kumain ng sweets and it won't show naman kaagad na super taba as long as you maintain balance of eating healthy diet, exercise and a little bit of sweets on the side,” Eva said.

As a star volleyball player, Michelle also believes in balance. She admitted that she loves sweets and without it, she will go crazy.

“Ako kasi I always believe in balance. I love sweets so I always allot a few calories for sweets, ice cream and chocolate because without it mababaliw talaga ko, so you just really have to know when to eat it and when you have to also go to the gym,” Michelle said.

“I also believe on cheat meals. I think it's a way of rewarding yourself for all the hard work you've done. For example, if you have a bad day, you always know where to go to get ice cream,” she added.

Dairy Queen’s classic Cheesecake Blizzard comes in three flavors: Mango Cashew, Oreo, and Brownie Mocha.

As a true fan of desserts, Ahtisa does not count the calories in her food.

“Ako I really love ice cream ever since pero I'm more so sa vanilla ice cream. I really don’t look to the calories when I eat something. it's just I try to go to gym after eating madami and that's basically it,” she said. — Video by EC Toledo IV
