And now, a whitening, anti-aging product

The one that does it all: Murad White Brilliance Wrinkle and Pore Refining Treatment tightens pores and minimizes fine lines and wrinkles while brightening skin for a radiant complexion. Available at Rustan’s.

DEAR RISSA,

I always see there are separate beauty products for whitening, for anti-aging, and oily skin. Is there a product that can do all three? I’m concerned about my big pores, fine lines, and discolored skin. Please share if you have come across any.

That’s true, most products address different beauty concerns. But what if you do want to address multiple skin issues? Combining products may not always deliver the best results because certain ingredients can counteract one another.

I recently discovered Murad White Brilliance Wrinkle and Pore Refining Treatment. I decided to reach for this product because oddly, when the weather gets cooler, my skin tends to get oilier. I’m trying it out now and I like how it does everything in one bottle. It tightens pores, making me less oily; promises to address fine lines and wrinkles; and brightens skin for an even complexion. Quite intriguing was how studies showed it reduces the appearance of pores by 62%, promoting a smoother skin tone. I just started using it, but I’m liking it so far.

Yes, you can have luminous skin

DEAR LUCY,

How can I achieve the luminous look? I always feel there is a thin line between looking luminous and looking greasy. Is that achievable with some product or is good skin a must?

I am a single mom and I do not have much time to pamper myself with facials, but I’ve read time and again that that is what must be done to maintain good skin. How can I make do with quarterly visits only to my derma?

MELINDA

Luminous skin is beautiful skin and, yes, it is realistically achievable by using a good finishing powder. I like the ambient powders or Hourglass, they make skin look naturally gorgeous. They came out with a palette that has three shades — one each for contour, for highlight, and for blending. It is so easy to use and can really flatter the complexion in a jiffy.

By Terry has very nice powders, too. That said, it is still important to have beautiful skin as a canvas (it simplifies all beauty routines!) and that can only be achieved by constant and regular TLC.

Finding the right product for your skin type is worth the effort and investment. But if you really need products to tide you between quarterly visits to your derma, then I suggest that you invest in a Clarisonic, a gadget that will clean your skin thoroughly. Complement it with once or twice weekly treatments of a mask that clears pores. I like Origins Clear Improvement, an active charcoal mask that brings out impurities. You leave it on for 10 minutes, then rinse it off.
