From the beach to the streets

Skater girls, unite: Spring summer 2014 for Sassa brings a very “from the beach to the street” vibe to the swimsuit market with its skater girl campaign and swimwear that can be worn beyond the beach or pool.

MANILA, Philippines - With the popularity of local music festivals, influenced by such foreign events as SXSW (South By Southwest) and Coachella, an influx of international performers visiting Manila, and the rise of skater culture in various areas of the city, swimwear has gone to a whole new level of versatility this season.

Spring summer 2014 for Sassa brings a very “from the beach to the street” vibe to the swimsuit market with its skater girl campaign and swimwear that can be worn beyond the beach or pool.

Sassa swimwear is sold in collections that include rash guards that boast UPF 50+ rating, board shorts, separates and cover-ups in ready to mix-and-match colors.

The sporty look is also part of the latest collection, combining sports and fashion in one style — perfect for surfing, skateboarding, wakeboarding or skating.

To bring the whole theme of the collection to the forefront of swimwear fashion this season, Sassa marketing manager Rossana Unson explains, “We didn’t shoot our campaign on a beach or by the pool. We did the whole shoot at The Collective. We had our model walking around the place in her swimsuit and a skateboard and everyone there was just cool with it. This is what we’re talking about, a whole new shift to the way we look at swimwear.”

The Collective is a unique type of community housing artists, entrepreneurs, and free spirits alike. It’s a very bohemian-like area with art spaces, quaint cafes, various food choices, unique boutiques that sell ukuleles, skateboards, quirky costumes and craft beer, as well as an alternative rock scene for emerging bands on weekend evenings. It’s not your typical Makati hangout.

A pioneer in the swimwear industry, Sassa brings out comprehensive, complete and versatile swimwear collections.
