DSWD: Food pack costs P797 each, not P1,500
CEBU, Philippines — The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) clarified that each prepacked Family Food Pack (FFP) costs ?797.80, contrary to a social media post claiming that the packs cost ?1,503.84 each.
The DSWD said in a statement that the ?1,503.84 amount cited in the post was the maximum price set for each box of pre-packed FFP that interested bidders or suppliers could offer during the procurement process.
During the competitive bidding, it said that 2Go Global International Corp. submitted the lowest compliant bid at ?797.80 per box.
The DSWD explained that all procurement of FFPs undergoes competitive bidding, with the supplier offering the lowest price while meeting the required specifications and other requirements declared the winning bidder.
Each FFP has six kilograms of rice, four cans of corned beef, four cans of tuna, two cans of sardines, five sachets of 3-in-1 coffee, and five sachets of powdered choco malt. The cost of the FFP also includes delivery and manpower.
The pack also includes packaging materials such as a regular slotted carton, vacuum rice bag, packaging tape, and stretch film.
DSWD emphasized that its procurement activities are conducted transparently and in accordance with Republic Act No. 12009, or the New Government Procurement Act.
The DSWD urged the public to refer to the official bidding documents for complete information on its procurement transactions through its procurement portal at procurement.dswd.gov.ph. — (FREEMAN)
