Price Tracker: Oil, fuel monitor for Apr. 22
MANILA, Philippines — Pump prices fell sharply this week, marking a shift in how the government is managing prices under the national energy emergency.
Energy Secretary Sharon Garin said the DOE is now setting a minimum rollback and a maximum increase for oil firms. The agency described the move as control over price adjustments, not a takeover of company operations.
The DOE warned that oil firms implementing less than the prescribed rollback could face criminal charges, while senators signaled support for the department’s authority to set adjustment limits during the emergency.
Diesel was cut by P24.94 per liter, gasoline by P3.41 per liter and kerosene by P2 per liter. Diesel slid also below P100 per liter in some stations after the rollback took effect.
