MANILA, Philippines — Education Secretary Sonny Angara led the 51st Executive Committee (ExeCom) meeting of the Department of Education to discuss critical issues, particularly those schools affected by the recent calamities in the country.

“We presided over the 51st ExeCom meeting to discuss the critical issue that needed immediate action, especially concerns relating to the recent calamities,” Angara said on his Facebook page.

He added that among those discussed is the comprehensive approach of the DepEd to help areas hit by typhoons and earthquakes.

Also discussed were updates on the temporary learning spaces of the department.

“In this spirit, we again reiterated our instructions to our undersecretaries and assistant secretaries to coordinate well with their respective regions and extend any help that we could give,” Angara said.

The meeting tackled the roll-out of a digital information platform called STRIDE System to ensure a more comprehensive insight of school buildings.

They also examine the performance and concerns of DepEd Region IV-B to hasten the support and oversight, and the status of infrastructure and procurement to ensure the efficient and transparent use of the government funds.
