MANILA, Philippines — The Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) announced its plan to investigate the reported breach of its social media account.

In a statement released on Friday, the PCG revealed that an unknown entity had gained unauthorized access to its official Facebook page at 12:30 p.m.

PCG spokesperson Armand Balilo said that the unknown breachers uploaded two "malicious short videos" to the agency's official Facebook page.

“The Coast Guard Public Affairs is now coordinating with the Cybercrime Investigation and Coordinating Center under the Department of Information and Communications Technology to conduct backend operations and assess the security breach,” the PCG said in a statement.

As of writing, the Facebook page of the PCG continues to display movie recap videos.

This is the third time that the PCG’s social media account has been hacked. The agency first lost access to its Facebook account on February 26 but was recovered on February 29.

On February 15, the PCG's X account (formerly Twitter) was also hacked, but access was restored a few hours later.
