MANILA, Philippines — Typhoon Inday is projected to exit the Philippine area of responsibility today, as another approaches Northern Luzon.

The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said the new weather disturbance will be named Josie.

Inday was almost out of the Philippine area at 465 kilometers north-northeast of Itbayat, Batanes yesterday, moving toward Taiwan.

Once outside the region, Inday will turn north-northwestward over the East China Sea while gradually accelerating, PAGASA said.

Josie, on the other hand, developed from a low-pressure area into a tropical depression and was last sighted 1,815 kilometers east of extreme Northern Luzon.

Unless it changes track, PAGASA said the new typhoon is projected to enter the Philippine area today, but may not affect the country since it is not expected to come near enough or stay long enough to make landfall and bring rain.

While Inday is still causing moderate to rough seas in the coastal waters and seaboards of Batanes and Babuyan Islands, it is not causing rainfall.

With a now weaker southwest monsoon, PAGASA said most parts of the country are expected to have fair weather with chances of isolated rains and thunderstorms.
