MANILA, Philippines — Sen. Alan Peter Cayetano has tested positive for COVID-19 after undergoing an antigen test.

Senate President Juan Miguel Zubiri yesterday said he and other members of the Senate are praying for Cayetano’s immediate recovery.

“Please let him know we’re praying for his quick recovery. I heard that he was positive. It’s better that we put it on record. Less people will ask for him,” Zubiri said during a late afternoon session at the Senate.

Senate Majority Leader Joel Villanueva said they are hoping that Cayetano was “just a false positive.”

“Hopefully (false positive), whatever it may be. I hope that he gets well soon,” Zubiri said.

Alan’s sister, Sen. Pia Cayetano, said she is hoping that her brother’s wife Taguig Mayor Lani Cayetano will be safe.

“I hope his wife will stay safe.”

Senators did not know how Cayetano could have gotten the virus and where he had his antigen test.
