Pacquiao admits funding challenges

MANILA, Philippines — Sen. Manny Pacquiao admitted encountering some problems when it comes to funding his presidential bid.

“There’s problem because we’re not relying on big business,” Pacquiao said in an interview aired over ABS-CBN on Thursday.

Pacquiao did not elaborate on the funding challenges he is facing.

The boxing icon turned politician said the reason behind such problems is that he is being very careful in choosing campaign donors.

“I don’t want to compromise my commitment to the people,” he said.

Pacquiao is running on an anti-corruption platform and vowed to punish corrupt government officials if he becomes president in May.
