MANILA, Philippines — Former defense secretary Gilbert “Gibo” Teodoro is pushing for the building of logistics hubs in key areas throughout the country. These will help achieve economic sustainability and synergy and at the same time protect the environment.

Teodoro, a candidate for senator, said that setting up seaports, airports and commercial centers will spur local commerce and trade. The manufacture, delivery, exchange and purchase of goods will be sustained and ancillary businesses and services will thrive.

The former Tarlac congressman said that with logistics hubs, the movement of people and goods will be made possible if not easier from island to island. This is necessary since the country is an archipelago.

With the hubs becoming the centers of trade and commerce, the surrounding smaller communities will eventually benefit economically.

He also said that with the logistics hubs the adjacent areas will no longer have to set up similar logistical requirements, thus preserving nature and saving the environment.
