MANILA, Philippines — Tropical cyclone Siony (international name Atsani) on Sunday entered the Philippine Area of Responsibility shortly after Super Typhoon Rolly made its second landfall over Albay.
"Siony" intensified into severe tropical storm on Wednesday afternoon. It is expected to intensify into a typhoon prior to its landfall or close approach over the vicinity of Batanes or Babuyan Islands Friday morning.
