Ramon moves toward Northern Luzon

MANILA,Philippines — Tropical Storm Ramon has started moving south southwest of Northern Luzon, according to the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA).

As of 4 p.m. yesterday, the center of Ramon was located at 435 kilometers east of Casiguran, Aurora.

Packing maximum sustained winds of 65 kilometers per hour near the center and gustiness of up to 80 kph, Ramon was moving south southwest at 15 kph.

PAGASA said light to moderate with intermittent heavy rains were experienced over the eastern portions of Cagayan and Isabela.

“Today, light to moderate with occasional heavy rains will be experienced over the eastern portions of Cagayan and Isabela, while light to moderate with intermittent heavy rains will prevail over Apayao, Kalinga and Northern Aurora,” PAGASA said.

Residents in flood- and landslide-prone areas have been advised to coordinate with local disaster officers and continue monitoring for updates.

“Gusty conditions associated with the northeast monsoon may still be experienced over northern Luzon, Aurora and Bicol region, especially in coastal and mountainous areas.”

Signal No. 1 remains hoisted over northern Luzon, specifically in the eastern portions of Cagayan and Isabela as well as in the northern portion of Aurora.
