MANILA, Philippines— The Department of Foreign Affairs is currently monitoring the aftermath of a shooting incident that occurred in a bowling alley in Torrance, California.
In a statement, the DFA said the gunfire which took place in Gable House Bowl in Torrance last Friday (late Saturday afternoon in Manila) left three people dead while four others were wounded. Agence France-Presse reported that the seven victims were all male.
The four injured were already taken to the hospital for treatment.
“The Philippine Consulate General in Los Angles is checking with authorities if Filipinos were among the victims in the shooting,” the DFA said.
The DFA said Consul General Adelio Angelito Cruz cited that initial reports indicate that the shooting ensued after a brawl between two groups inside the bowling alley. He said authorities are still trying to identify the suspects in the incident.
Torrance is a coastal city with a population of 150,000 located around 20 miles or 32 kilometers south of Los Angeles.
Cruz said there are 4,000 Filipinos in Torrance. —Rosette Adel
