Duterte appoints members of charter change consultative committee

MANILA, Philippines — President Rodrigo Duterte has appointed 19 members to the consultative committee who will review the 1987 Constitution.

The committee is chaired by former chief justice Reynato Puno, a federalism advocate.

Duterte has also appointed former Senate president Aquilino Pimentel Jr, the father of local government.

On December 2016, he signed an executive order creating a 25-member body to study proposals to amend the 1987 Constitution.
