MANILA, Philippines — The Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board on Tuesday announced that it would suspend seven units of bus liner Partas following its involvement in a tragic collision in La Union.

LTFRB Board Member and spokesperson Aileen Lizada said the 30-day preventive suspension order against Partas would be issued on Wednesday, December 27. She added that the order would take effect once the bus operator receives it.

The LTFRB’s announcement came after Partas failed to submit the requirements asked by the board. These requirements are believed to be of help in the probe into the deadly vehicular accident.

On Christmas day, a bus operated by Partas collided head-on with a private jeepney along a national highway in Agoo, La Union. The accident left 20 individuals dead and 26 others injured.

The LTFRB on Tuesday asked Partas to submit the dashcam memory card and GPS data of the bus involved in the Christmas accident but the bus company only submitted a CCTV footage inside the bus and not the dashcam footage.

Lizada gave Partas a deadline on Tuesday noon citing that the crashed occurred more than 24 hours. She said a police report said the La Union accident happened at 3:30 a.m. of Monday.

The LTFRB did not specify the buses covered by the preventive suspension but Partas runs a Pagudpud, Ilocos-Norte to Manila route.  Rosette Adel
