MANILA, Philippines — Almost 17,000 passengers were stranded in seaports affected by Tropical Depression Urduja on Sunday.
As of 12 p.m. on Sunday, the Philippine Coast Guard said 16,996 passengers were stranded.
On the other hand, 118 sea vessels; 1,711 rolling cargoes, and 37 bancas also canceled their trips during the onslaught of the weather disturbance. The sea vehicles were stranded in the ports areas affected by "Urduja."
PAGASA said "Urduja" was located at 65 km east-southeast of Romblon, Romblon as of 1 p.m.

PAGASA said in its 2 p.m. update that Signal No. 1 is raised over the southern part of Occidental Mindoro, the southern part of Oriental Mindoro, Romblon, Sorsogon, Masbate including Burias and Ticao Islands, and the northern part of Palawan including Cuyo and Calamian Group of Islands. It also advised against sea travel in the affected areas.
Meanwhile, Philippine Red Cross Chair and Sen. Richard Gordon said stranded passengers at the Cagban port were provided with meals.
