Viet Navy ship in Manila for goodwill visit

Michael Punongbayan - The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines - The Vietnamese Navy’s Le Quy Don has docked at Manila’s South Harbor for a goodwill visit to the Philippines that will end today, officials said.

Some 50 cadets from Vietnam’s naval academy headed by its deputy director, Commodore Phan Van Van, are aboard the ship under the command of Lt. La Van Tam.

The Philippine Navy’s BRP Rajah Humabon met the Vietnamese ship and rendered the customary naval greeting off Corregidor Island and escorted the vessel to its designated berthing area last week.

Navy delegates then accorded their visiting counterparts a welcome ceremony upon arrival followed by a port briefing related to security and health aboard the Vietnamese vessel.
