BOC set to acquire speedboats, canines

MANILA, Philippines - In line with its anti- smuggling campaign, the Bureau of Customs (BOC) yesterday allocated more than P300 million for the acquisition of 20 speedboats and lease of canines trained to sniff out illegal drugs.

The BOC will spend P290 million for the speedboats and P17 million for the lease of the narcotics-trained dogs.

BOC posted an invitation to bid for the supply and delivery of 10 units of speedboats that could travel at 60 knots and trailers and another 10 units of speedboats with a speed of 40 knots and trailers; and the lease of narcotics trained detection dogs.

For both purchases, the bureau’s Bid and Awards Committee (BAC) preferred open competitive bidding procedures using a “pass/fail” criterion as specified in the 2016 Revised Implementing Rules and Regulation of the Republic Act 9184 otherwise known as the “Government Procurement Act.”

Those interested to join the bidding can get more information from the BAC Secretariat.
