MANILA, Philippines — Former Vice President Jejomar Binay and his son, dismissed Makati Mayor Jejomar Erwin "Junjun" Binay Jr., have posted bail for the criminal charges filed against them.

The Office of the Ombudsman earlier indicted the former vice president for graft, malversation of public funds and falsification of public documents in connection with the anomalous construction of the P2.2 billion Makati City Hall Building II.

The elder Binay posted P376,000 bail on Friday for four counts of graft, nine counts of falsification of documents and one count of malversation, according to a report from radio dwIZ.

Meanwhile, Binay Jr. posted P100,000 bail for two counts of graft and one count of malversation before anti-graft court Sandiganbayan.

The Sandiganbayan en banc has decided to consolidate the new cases filed against the elder Binay and the pending cases of his son.

The cases were filed against the former vice president exactly two weeks after ending his term and losing immunity from suit. — Patricia Lourdes Viray
