Honasan calls for unity after 2016 polls

MANILA, Philippines - Opposition vice presidential candidate Sen. Gregorio Honasan on Monday called on Filipinos to unite regardless of the results of the 2016 polls.

“There is so much potential if we unite,” Honasan told The STAR in a phone interview. “After today, let’s continue to work hard for unity, lasting peace and prosperity.”

Honasan, running mate of Vice President Jejomar Binay of the United Nationalist Alliance, arrived before the opening of his precinct at the Nativity of Our Lady Parish in Marikina City.

After voting, he went around Metro Manila to thank his supporters.

The senator, who is trailing in pre-electoral surveys, said he has no unwarranted expectations regarding the results of the elections.
