Binay gets endorsement of Ampatuan clan members

MAGUINDANAO, Philippines - Members of the Ampatuan clan on Tuesday endorsed the candidacy of presidential candidate Jejomar “Jojo” Binay of the United Nationalist Alliance (UNA).

Binay was in Talayan town in Maguindanao Tuesday to proclaim the candidacy for provincial governor of Kagui Ali Midtimbang and his running mate Dustin Mastura.

Midtimbang is the father-in-law of detained former Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao Gov. Zaldy Ampatuan.

The ?chairperson of UNA Maguindanao is Tucao Mastura, the party’s candidate for congressman in the first district of the province.

Present in Binay's sortie on Tuesday in Talayan town were Sajid Ampatuan, candidate for mayor of Shariff Aguak, and his nephew and reelectionist Mayor Benzar Ampatuan of Mamasapano, Maguindanao.

Sajid, who is aspiring for the mayoral post of Shariff Aguak as an UNA candidate, is the youngest son of the late Andal Ampatuan, Sr., governor of the province for three consecutive terms prior to the infamous November 23, 2009 “Maguindanao Massacre.”
