MANILA, Philippines — The campaign season for candidates for national posts will officially start three months before the May 9 elections.

Five aspirants —Vice President Jejomar Binay, Davao City Mayor Rodrigo Duterte, Sen. Grace Poe, former Interior Secretary Manuel Roxas II and Sen. Miriam Defensor Santiago—will be vying for the country's top government post.

Meanwhile, there are six candidates for vice president: Sen. Alan Peter Cayetano, Sen. Francis Escudero, Sen. Gregorio Honasan II, Sen. Ferdinand Marcos Jr., Camarines Sur Rep. Leni Robredo and Sen. Antonio Trillanes IV.
