Pagasa warns beach goers of rough seas

MANILA, Philippines - The state weather bureau yesterday warned beach goers against rough seas off Northern Luzon due to the surge of the northeast monsoon.

The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) issued a gale warning over Batanes, Calayan, Babuyan, Isabela, Cagayan and in the northern and western coasts of Ilocos Norte, Ilocos Sur and La Union.

PAGASA said these areas would have rough to very rough seas with wave heights reaching as high as 3.4 to 4.5 meters.

Fishing boats and other small seacraft are also advised not to venture out into the sea, while larger sea vessels were alerted against big waves.

PAGASA said the northeast monsoon would also bring cloudy skies with light to moderate rains and isolated thunderstorms over Eastern Visayas and Bicol region today.

Cloudy skies with light rains will also prevail over Cagayan Valley and the provinces of Aurora and Quezon.

Metro Manila and the rest of Luzon will have partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated light rains.

Partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rainshowers or thunderstorms will prevail over the rest of the country. – With Eva Visperas
