MANILA, Philippines – Top social media networking site Facebook created a “safety check” feature to determine the safety of people located in Paris, France, amid the Paris attacks.
Facebook founder and CEO Mark Zuckerberg expressed sympathy to Paris and its victims and condemned the violence following explosion and shooting attacks in Paris, killing over 150 people.
“Violence like this has no place in any city or country in the world,” Zuckerberg said in his Facebook post.
“We've activated Safety Check, so if you're in Paris you can mark yourself safe or check on your friends and family: https://www.facebook.com/safetycheck/paris_terror_attacks,” he added.
The Facebook feature also included the crisis description: “French President François Hollande has declared a state of emergency across France after a series of terror attacks on Friday night. The duration of the state of emergency remains unknown.”
