MANILA, Philippines - Camarines Sur Rep. Leni Robredo on Monday stressed that she will only seek the vice presidency in 2016 if nobody else is up for the post.

"Masasagot ko lang siya ng oo if I feel I am the only one who can do it. E maraming pwede. Sacrifice to country sa akin hihingin, e pwede rin naman sa iba," Robredo said in an interview with ANC's Headstart.

The lawmaker added that it was the same reason that she ran for Congress in 2013.

"Kailangan indispensable, that I am the only one who can fill that gap. Ang pagtakbo ko sa Congress, kahit ayaw na ayaw ko, alam ko ako lang ang makaka (fill)," Robredo said.

She said the idea of running for president is "out of this world" for her.

Robredo admitted that she is still hoping that Sen. Grace Poe will agree to be the running mate of Interior Secretary Manuel "Mar" Roxas II in the 2016 national elections.

"Sana. Hanggang wala pang announcement, hindi pa kami nawawalan ng pag-asa na somehow magkakaareglo din," the lawmaker said.

Poe is the top choice of the Liberal Party's Roxas to be his vice president for the 2016 polls.

However, the senator is reported to announce her presidential bid within the week.

Robredo also noted that Justice Secretary Leila De Lima and Sen. Alan Peter Cayetano are qualified to run as vice president.

The Camarines Sur solon is set to decide on her plans for the 2016 polls by the end of the month when survey results are released.
