Nancy supports calls to keep 'pork' senators in Camp Crame

MANILA, Philippines - Sen. Nancy Binay has expressed support to calls to allow Senators Juan Ponce Enrile, Jinggoy Estrada and Ramon Revilla Jr. to remain in detention at the Philippine National Police national (PNP) headquarters in Camp Crame in Quezon City.

“Tutal nandoon na naman sila sa PNP Custodial (Cener) eh. So I don’t see the need na ililipat pa sila eh parehong kulungan din naman ‘yun ‘di ba?,” Binay said, who is a member of the Senate minority group.

The minority group now only have four members namely: Senators Vicente Sotto III, Juan Victor Ejercito, Gregorio Honasan and Binay since Enrile and Estrada are detained as they face plunder and graft charges over the pork barrel fund misuse.

Binay said she will be ready to sign the amended Senate resolution that was pulled out by Sotto the other day due to legal concerns.

Sotto and Honasan filed Senate Resolution 798 last Monday that would have expressed the Senate’s approval to allow the continued detention of the three senators at PNP headquarters.

They cited the three senators’ constitutional right to be deemed innocent until proven guilty.

Sotto, however, withdrew the resolution the other day for a thorough legal review.
