Thunderstorm alert up this Holy Week

MANILA, Philippines - Thunderstorms are likely to occur this Holy Week even with the onset of the summer season.

The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) advised the public to expect heavy rains, gusty winds, lightning and possible flashfloods.

PAGASA said thunderstorms affected Rizal and parts of Metro Manila yesterday.

Weather forecasters said the diffused tail-end of a cold
front affected extreme Northern Luzon while the easterlies were over the eastern sections of Southern Luzon, Visayas and Mindanao.

Cagayan Valley and the provinces of Aurora and Quezon will have cloudy skies with light to moderate rain showers and thunderstorms until today.

Metro Manila and the rest of the country will be partly cloudy with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms mostly in the afternoon.

Thunderstorms are most common in the late afternoon and evening during warm months.
