P-Noy may transfer to Bahay Pangarap after SONA

MANILA, Philippines - It may take at least a month before President Aquino can transfer to Bahay Pangarap, his official residence in the Malacañang compound.

An additional room is being made in the house. Palace maintenance is also making sure that water from the Pasig River would not overflow into the quarters.

While Bahay Pangarap is being renovated, Mr. Aquino will continue to stay in his family home in Times Street in West Triangle, Quezon City.

Mr. Aquino initially declined to stay in Malacañang because the official presidential residence supposedly had “negative vibes.”

He lived in the Palace during the administration of his mother, the late former President Corazon Aquino.

Security concerns, however, convinced him to stay in the smaller house in the Palace compound.

On his first day in office, Mr. Aquino turned over the 1,400-square meter Arlegui mansion to its original owners, the Laperal family.
