MANILA, Philippines — Ben&Ben canceled their United Arab Emirates gig yesterday as some of the band members tested positive for COVID-19.

"After much discussion and consultation, it is with deep regret we announce that we will have to postpone our performance at the Expo Dubai 2020 this January 27, 2022, due to Covid cases within the band and our team," the band announced in a joint statement released online on Tuesday.

Smart Communications, in a statement sent to Philstar.com, also said that it is moving the streaming of Ben&Ben’s first-ever online concert "Kuwaderno" on Smart GigaPlay to January 30 instead of January 29.

The band further said, "We understand how this will come as a disappointment to many of you who were looking forward to meeting us there, but we as a band decided it to be the best decision in the interest of everyone’s health to postpone the performance. We humbly ask for your kind understanding as those of us affected recover from Covid."

The band said they will release a new event date as soon as they recover from the virus. It was not mentioned who among the members tested postive.

The band extended their gratitude to Liwanag, the name of the band's fans.

"Thank you so much, Liwanag, for your patience and understanding. We'll keep you posted with updates regarding this as soon as possible. Sincerely, Toni, Keifer, Agnes, Andrew, Paolo, Miguel, Jam, Pat, and Poch."
