Wilbert Ross, Bea Binene to star in 'Pee Mak' Philippine adaptation
MANILA, Philippines — Wilbert Ross and Bea Binene will star in the Philippine adaptation of the 2013 Thai blockbuster horror comedy "Pee Mak."
"Pee Mak" is considered the highest-grossing film of all time in Thailand starring Mario Maurer and Davika Hoorne.
Bea and Wilbert's starring role in Pee Mak was announced at The Next Fan Takeover, the fan meet of the artists of the Viva One original series, held at the New Frontier Theater in Pasay City last Saturday.
It was a big surprise for Wilbert that he was chosen to play the character of Mario, who is said to resemble him.
"Sobrang crazy lang isipin na I’ve been called Pee Mak since I was in high school for the longest time. Nung inilabas kasi 'yung movie ni Mario na 'Crazy Little Thing Called Love,' they call me Shone and then nung lumabas 'yung Pee Mak, they call me Pee Mak," Wilbert told entertainment reporter Rommel Gonzales.
"Crazy Little Thing Called Love" is Mario's blockbuster coming-of-age romance movie with Baifern Pimchanok released in 2010.
"Then high school, college until sa showbiz, Pee Mak ang tawag sa akin ng mga tao without me knowing na years after, it’s gonna be me playing Pee Mak. Natuwa po talaga ako. Parang it’s unreal, unknowingly nama-manifest ko 'yung isang bagay na hindi ko alam na mangyayari,” the actor added.
Wilbert and Bea's screen pairing was warmly welcomed by fans after starring in the series "Golden Scenery of Tomorrow." The "Pee Mak" adaptation is their first movie together.
Viva did not reveal the release date for its "Pee Mak" adaptation.
