Blackpink's Jisoo denies connection to brother's alleged sex crime case

MANILA, Philippines — Korean singer Kim Ji-soo, better known as Jisoo of the girl group Blackpink, is denying she has any links to alleged sex crimes committed by a man said to be her brother.
Reports in Korea emerged that a man was arrested on April 15 after allegedly sexually molesting a female broadcast jockey or streamer.
Rumors grew that the man in question was Jisoo's older brother, and an individual claiming to be the man's wife said on social media that she experienced domestic violence while married to the said person.
Attorney Eun Hyun-ho of Kim & Chang, legal representative for Jisoo's agency Blissoo, released a statement to make it clear that neither the artist nor the company are involved with the issue.
The statement began lamenting the "indiscriminate spread of content" assocating both parties, as well as the "circulation of false information" damaging Jisoo's reputation.
It reiterated that the issue at hand is "entirely unrelated" to Jisoo and Blissoo, adding that many of the viral information are either unverified speculation or clearly false claims.
The lawyer noted that Jisoo began her trainee life when she was young and has been living away from her family for years. It stressed that she is not involved in any family member's private matters.
The statement said that while Jisoo did receive limited advice and assistance from family members while preparing to launch Blissoo, at no point did they receive compensation from the label or participated in any management or decision-making processes.

The statement also addressed claims that the charged individual "co-founded the company" or "serves as part of BLISSOO's management or as its CEO" as entirely false, repeating that there were no legal or managerial ties.
"Neither Blissoo nor Jisoo has provided any financial or legal support to the individual, nor do they have any plans to do so in the future," the counsel said. "Jisoo also has no communication or involvement with the individual regarding this matter."
The attorney noted that the continued dissemination of false information and damaging claims against Jisoo constitute a clear violation of rights and defamation, as such a legal team will immediately take all available civil and criminal legal action against:
- the creation and distribution of content containing false information and defamatory claims
- the use of Jisoo's name, likeness, or image in unrelated matters
- the publication or creation of content based on unverified or speculative information
"In particular, we make it clear that we will respond firmly — without leniency or settlement — to those who repeatedly or maliciously create and disseminate such content," the statement ended.
Jisoo founded Blissoo in 2024 two years after opting not to renew her individual contract with YG Entertainment, under which she is still signed for group activities with Blackpink.
Fellow Blackpink members have also gone the same route: Jennie has Odd Atelier, while Lisa has Lloud. Rosé, meanwhile, signed with YG Entertainment's associate company, The Black Label.
Since launching Blissoo, Jisoo has released her debut extended play "Amortage," made her film debut in "Omniscient Reader: The Prophecy," collaborated with Zayn on "Eyes Closed," and starred in the shows "Newtopia" and "Boyfriend on Demand."
