MANILA, Philippines — Park Seo-joon and Uhm Tae-goo will star in the upcoming crime series "Born Guilty" on the streaming platform Disney+.

The show is set in Korea during the 1980s, as the capital Seoul undergoes rapid development, and follows two rival gangsters seeking to build a new criminal empire away from their troubled pasts.

Seo-joon will portray Pengi, a sharp, vicious and unpredictable thug abandoned at a young age and raised in an orphanage in a world consumed by crime.

"Pengi relies on his intellect and ruthless determination to overthrow his rivals, but when he uncovers a unique opportunity to partner with Ssaengdak (Tae-goo), a gangster in the city's northern district, to further advance his ends, the two will work together to seize control of Seoul's underworld," goes the show's logline.

"Reborn Rich" actress Jo Hye-joo also stars in the project, which will be helmed by "Deliver Us From Evil" and "Office" director Hong Won-chan.

New Point and Plusmedia Entertainment will produce the series, which is set to come out sometime next year.

Seo-joon has appeared in a number of series such as "Itaewon Class," "Record of Youth," "Gyeongseong Creature," "What's Wrong with Secretary Kim," "Hwarang: The Poet Warrior Youth," and most recently "Surely Tomorrow," but this will be his first acting series on Disney+.

That is on top of the reality show "In the Soop: Friendcation" with Choi Woo-shik, Park Hyung-sik, Peakboy and BTS member V, as well as the Marvel Cinematic Universe film "The Marvels," which hit Disney's streaming platform after its theatrical release.

Tae-goo, meanwhile, appeared on the Disney+ K-drama "Light Shop," though he is better known for appearing in movies like "A Taxi Driver," "I Saw the Devil," and cameos in "Concrete Utopia" and "Cobweb."
