Ador terminates contract of NewJeans member Danielle
MANILA, Philippines — K-pop agency ADOR has terminated the exclusive contract of Danielle, marking a sharp escalation in its year-long legal dispute with members of the girl group NewJeans.
In a statement released Monday, December 29, ADOR said it held discussions with NewJeans members Minji, Hanni, and Danielle following an October 30 court ruling that upheld the validity of the group’s exclusive contracts with the agency.
Hanni, with her family, decided to stay with the agency. Talks with Minji, meanwhile, are still underway.
Danielle, however, was not notified of the termination of her contract, with the agency signaling that further legal action is likely.
“Regarding Danielle, as a member of New Jeans and an Ador artist, we have determined that she cannot continue to remain with Ador, and therefore have notified her of the termination of her exclusive contract today," tha agency said in a statement.
"Furthermore, we plan to hold Danielle’s family and former CEO Min Hee-jin legally accountable for causing this dispute, as well as for her departure from NewJeans and the delay in her return,” ADOR added.
Legal dispute continues. The said it has learned that NewJeans members were allegedly receiving “distorted and biased” information, which it said contributed to misunderstandings and prolonged disagreement with the company.
It also added that the parties have agreed to address remaining controversies in due time.
The two other members, Haerin and Hyein, have already resumed their work with the agency in November.
