Last week, I was invited for cocktails at the condo unit of a very powerful network couple. I was floored by how lovely their home was, and asked permission to write about it. They agreed on the condition that they not be identified. And so, they will remain unnamed in this piece.

The impressive condo of this power couple is a three-bedroom affair where one bedroom was converted to make room for a walk-in closet in the master bedroom. Meanwhile, the second room was converted into a gym since the residents both enjoy working out to stay fit and healthy.

The clean, modern, and homey feel of the place was a collaboration with interior designer Victoria del Rosario. But even with her inputs, there is no doubt that the couple added personal touches as well. The man of the house pointed to an abstract painting by Bernardo Pacquing in the living room and showed me that the ledge directly below the painting opens up; with the flick of a remote control, a flat screen TV comes up like magic! The two fully upholstered sofas are from Minotti, a world-renowned Italian company that is famous for its contemporary furniture. I couldn’t help but marvel at the herringbone pattern of the wooden floors and the modern lighting fixture in the ceiling, which lent a warm glow to the room. Its light complemented the breathtaking sunset we witnessed from the 38th floor as we sipped red wine while enjoying yummy finger sandwiches and canapes.

The dining set was purchased from Furn Italia.

In the dining area, a giant full-length mirror framed in black and another mirror sandwiched between the china cabinets and placed on top of the buffet cabinet gave the room an illusion of more space and depth. The modern ceiling lamps in the dining and living area were purchased in the USA by the interior designer, while the dining set was from Furn Italia. The seats of the six dining chairs are fully upholstered to make them more comfortable and are “wrapped” in genuine leather. Faux throws were added to each chair to give them more texture and character.

The four-panel antique wooden Chinese screen from Art Asia leads to the walk-in closet.

In the master bedroom, a number of Henry Matisse lithographs are displayed on the walls. The lithographs were purchased in London by the couple and hand-carried home. (Lithography is a method of printing wherein a flat surface that is treated will repel ink except where it is required for printing.)

The sliding doors leading to the walk-in closet are four panels of wooden antique Chinese screens that were purchased from Arts of Asia. The walk-in closet is very spacious, with lots of storage space for the lady of the house’s many handbags and shoes. From there, a pair of mirrored sliding doors open to the bathroom suite, where gray Italian tiles complement the white bathtub and water closet. A lovely touch is provided by the two round countertop sinks in matte gold, one for him and one for her.

The master bath suite has Italian tiles, and his and hers sinks.

Aside from the posh interior of their unit, the couple enjoys the five-star amenities the condo offers as well. On the 10th floor is where most of the hotel-like amenities are found, including the pool, an outdoor basketball court, a state-of-the-art gym, a private theatre, and function rooms. With creature comforts like these, who wouldn’t mind cocooning in this private paradise for days on end?
