Local, international music acts to watch out for these ‘ber’ months
As the music scene resumes with live events, concerts and festivals following the COVID-19 pandemic break, here are some of the local and international acts that you should watch out for these “ber” months (compiled as of this writing).
September
Filipina-British singer-songwriter Beabadoobee will bring her Beatopia Tour 2022 to Manila on Sept. 16 at the New Frontier Theater. The event is presented by Live Nation Philippines.
P-pop leader SB19 will kick off the WYAT [Where You At] tour at the Smart Araneta Coliseum on Sept. 17 before heading to Cebu (Oct. 1), Clark (Oct. 8), Davao (Oct. 15), and international shows in the United States, United Arab Emirates and Singapore.
Globe’s G Music Fest is also set on Sept. 17 at the Circuit Events Ground with Thai singer-songwriter Phum Viphurit and South Korean girl group BugABoo and the country’s very own The Juans, Unique, I Belong to the Zoo, and many others.
Irish rock band The Script will return to Manila at the SM Mall of Asia (MOA) Arena in Pasay City on Sept. 23 while Ateez, Ikon, Youngjae will grace the KPop Masterz 2 at the Araneta Coliseum on the same day.
Dubbed Then and Now - Side A Redux 360 Experience, enduring Original Pilipino Music (OPM) band Side A will serenade fans on Sept. 24 at the Newport Music Amphitheater.
Karpos Live will bring English duo Oh Wonder to Manila for a one-night concert at the Filinvest Tent Alabang on Sept. 27, while American singer-songwriter Pink Sweat$ will perform at the New Frontier Theater on the same night.
Ex-Spandau Ballet frontman Tony Hadley will croon his iconic songs at the Newport Performing Arts Theater on Sept. 28, while Jessi, the South Korean-American rapper-singer behind the hits Zoom and Nunu Nana, heads to MOA on Sept. 30.
Never Enough singer Loren Allred, Matt Bloyd, Cheesa will headline East Meets West, A Troy Laureta Live Experience on Sept. 30 and Oct. 1 at the Newport Performing Arts Theater. They will be joined by OPM hitmakers Ogie Alcasid, Jed Madela, Jona and Regine Velasquez-Alcasid, among others.
October
On Oct. 1, South Korea’s GOT7 leader Jay B will make a stop in Manila at the Araneta Coliseum, as part of his first solo world tour titled Jay B Tape: Press Pause and on Oct. 7, reminisce the classic Manila sound at the Newport Performing Arts Theater via Yugyugan Nation 2 show featuring OPM artists from the ‘70s.
Come Oct. 8, four music events will take place: American musician Jeremy Zucker at the New Frontier Theater; Macbeth Music Festival at the Metrotent Convention Center; OPM singer Christian Bautista at the Samsung Performing Arts Theater; and K-pop boy band Seventeen at MOA (also on Oct. 9).
American rock band Boys Like Girls will stage a two-day gig on Oct. 10 and 11 at the New Frontier Theater; Ice Seguerra at the Theater Solaire on Oct. 15; and British music artist Anne-Marie on Oct. 16 at the New Frontier Theater.
You Are the Reason and Heaven crooner Calum Scott will return to the country on Oct. 20 for his BRIDGES Asia Tour at the New Frontier Theater. The show is mounted by Ovation Productions, Inc.
Neuwave Events & Productions announced the Popstival 2022 roster happening on Oct. 21 at the Cultural Center of the Philippines (CCP) Open Grounds. It includes K-pop artists Park Bom, Loona, Be’O, Viviz, Brave Girls, Hyolyn and P-pop groups G22, VXON, CALISTA, Lady Pipay, BINI and Ken of SB19.
Rounding up the list of music acts for the rest of October are: OPM band The Juans’ solo concert on Oct. 23 at the Araneta Coliseum (produced by KDR Music House and Viva Live, Inc.); Michael Learns To Rock (Back On The Road Tour 2022), Oct. 26 at the Araneta Coliseum, Oct. 28 at the Waterfront Hotel Ballroom in Cebu, and Oct. 30 at the SMX Convention Center in Davao; K-pop five-member band Tomorrow X Together’s (TXT) Act: Love Sick tour, Oct. 27 and 28 at MOA; Canadian pop star Justin Bieber, Oct. 29 at CCP Open Grounds; Hallyuween 2022, Oct. 29 at MOA; The Bootleg Beatles Live in Concert, Oct. 30 at PICC Plenary Hall, CCP Complex; and Halloween Howlers Manila, Oct. 31 at Circuit Makati.
Earlier, Bieber announced the postponement of the rest of his Justice World Tour due to health issues. As of this writing, the promoter of Bieber’s Philippine tour Ovation Productions, Inc. posted on Facebook that the show is “set to continue as scheduled.”
The full post reads as follows, “We are aware that Bieber has decided to take a break from touring and we wish Justin a speedy recovery and respect his decision to put his health first. We can’t wait to see him back on the road. Our understanding is the Asia leg of the tour is set to continue as scheduled.”
On the other hand, Happee Hour and PULP Live World shared the lineup for the “first ever K-pop Halloween party” Hallyuween 2022: CL, Epik High, Pentagon, Kard, Gaho x Kave, DJ Soda and P-pop BGYO.
November
Initially set on May 20, Canadian rockstar Avril Lavigne’s Manila leg of the Head Above Water Tour was moved to Nov. 3 at The Big Dome. She last came to the Philippines in 2014. The Manila show is presented by Wilbros Live and Midas Promotions.
Rapper-songwriter-producer from the US Russ is also coming back to Manila for a show on Nov. 5 at MOA; Korean-American singer Eric Nam, Nov. 10 at Samsung Hall - SM Aura Premier for There & Back Again World Tour 2022; US pop-rock band Lany, Nov. 11 to 13, 15 and 16 at MOA; British alternative rock group Prep is visiting the Philippines again on Nov. 16 at the Samsung Hall, SM Aura Premier; and duo Fiji Blue, Nov. 17 at the same venue.
Verve An Epic Music Festival will be held at the CCP Open Grounds on Nov. 19; 28-year-old singer-songwriter Alec Benjamin’s The (Un)Commentary Tour, Nov. 21 at the New Frontier Theater by Insignia Presents productions; Jacob Collier’s Djesse World Tour Manila 2022, Nov. 23 at the Filinvest Tent in Alabang; Boy Pablo, Nov. 26 at the New Frontier Theater; O/C Records and Viva Live’s Pulso concert, featuring Kean Cipriano, Adie and Unique, Nov. 29 at the New Frontier Theater; and Korean hip-hop DPR: The Regime World Tour, Nov. 30 at the Filinvest Tent in Alabang.

Capping the busy music scene this Christmas season are: Norwegian-Filipino artist Clinton Kane on Dec. 3 at the New Frontier Theater; Sigla Music Festival in Laguna, Dec. 3 with Ben&Ben, December Avenue, Mayonnaise, Zack Tabudlo, Adie, and many others; and Sarah Brightman’s A Christmas Symphony, Dec. 7 at Araneta Coliseum.
Grammy award-winning band Maroon 5 will rock the MOA Arena stage on Dec. 8; two-night 88rising’s Head In The Clouds Music & Arts Festival, Dec. 9 to 10 at SM Festival Grounds, Parañaque City; and keshi, Dec. 11 at the New Frontier Theater.
The nine-piece collective Ben&Ben just announced that their sendoff concert will push through on Dec. 16 at the SMDC Festival Grounds after it was canceled last Sept. 3 due to inclement weather.
Super Junior has yet to announce the new schedule of their Manila show following the postponement of the group’s concert last month.
