MANILA, Philippines — With less than a month before the coronation night, the Binibining Pilipinas 2022 contestants gave everyone a sneak peek of their distinct pasarela walk during the Press Presentation, held last Tuesday at the Novotel Manila Araneta City.

The 40 lovely ladies stunned the audience with their confidence and charm as they opened the show parading SHEIN’s newest collection in various styles and colors.

They were in blue swimsuits by Justine Aliman and wearing shoes by Jojo Bragais with DJ Tom Taus playing the background music. Adding thrill to the show was P-pop girl group 4th Impact that gave a fierce and energetic performance.

The Press Presentation was hosted by Miss Intercontinental 2021 Cinderella Faye Obeñita, Binibining Pilipinas Grand International 2021 Samantha Panlilio, and Binibining Pilipinas International 2021 Hannah Arnold.

The judging panel was composed of Binibining Pilipinas Charities, Inc. (BPCI), and executives and sponsors. A teaser of the brand-new Binibining Pilipinas theme song by P-pop leading act SB19 was also launched during the event.

The STAR had the chance to chat with some of the bets after the program and during the Talent Show Competition, which was held earlier.

Here’s what they had to say on why they are deserving to win the crown, plus some interesting facts about them:

Bb. 1 Stacey Daniella B. Gabriel from Cainta is a “creature of habit” and eats the same dish for breakfast every day: “The next Bb. Pilipinas should be a woman of impact, power and purpose. And I am ready to fill that role. I am an actor and a lot of what I do is storytelling and connecting human beings, stretching people’s empathy and compassion and I am ready to bring that experience into my role as a Bb. Pilipinas (queen).”

Bb. 2 Krizzia Lynn Moreno from Camarines Sur is eyeing the Bb. Pilipinas Globe title: “I am deserving to win the crown because I feel that I am prepared emotionally, mentally and physically. I have prepared and doubled all my efforts. I worked really hard for it this time (as) compared to my previous stint. I am ready for the responsibility of having a crown.”

Bb. 5 Karen Laurrie Mendoza from Iloilo City comes from a “very patriotic family”: “Some people want to be a doctor, want to be a lawyer, or a journalist, but I myself knew (I want to be a beauty queen ever since) I was a kid. My mother used to collect royal family cookie jars and even tea cups, and from then on, I always dreamt of being a queen. And that was my inspiration and I want to use this platform for my advocacy, which is mental health. So, I really think that I am right enough this year to win a crown.”

Bb. 6 Elda Louise Aznar from Davao del Sur is a flight attendant, who graduated with a degree in interior design: “I am fit to win the crown because first, I have all the qualifications to represent the country and (I) embody the true meaning of being a Filipina.”

Bb. 8 Herlene Nicole Budol from Angono, Rizal: “We (are) all deserving naman (to win the crown). Deserving naman po kami lahat pero siyempre ilalaban po namin ‘to para sa aming adbokasiya, sa crown at pagdayo sa ibang bansa.”

Bb. 14 Joanna Day from Bulacan is a “perfectionist”: “I think anyone is fit to win the crown. We’ve all worked hard for this and I think personally, I could bring my experiences to be able to represent the Philippines. I think that’s what we all want — to represent the Philippines (and) to (show) that this is what a Filipina can be and this is what a Filipina can become.”

Bb. 15 Nyca Mae Bernardo from Guiguinto, Bulacan: “(Being a) beauty queen is not just being beautiful, inside and out. (It is) not just (having) good communication skills, but (having) a strong mind, a vigorous character that can stand and fight for what she believes in, and I believe I have that trait of being a beauty queen.”

Bb. 17 Chelsea Fernandez from Tacloban City: “I am aiming for the Miss International Philippines crown, the top crown here in Bb. Pilipinas. I really believe that my characteristics and personality really belong (to) the organization. I also believe that I am a modern Filipina.”

Bb. 20 Joanna Marie Rabe from Iba, Zambales can sing Japanese songs and finds doing laundry therapeutic: “Aside from being myself, it’s also about my story, my purpose. I just want to spread my advocacy to everybody, which is food security because a lot of people are starving and families need our help. And so I know that if I win this crown, I can do a lot of things to be able to help them.”

Bb. 24 Patricia Samantha Go from Quezon City revealed she is a miracle baby and doesn’t have a belly button: “I am fit to win the crown because I am dedicated and I am unique in my own ways. This is my ultimate childhood dream.”

Bb. 33 Mary Justinne Punsalang from Cavite: “I am fit to win one of the four crowns of Binibini because yung pagiging reporter ko magagamit ko siya sa pag-reign. Sabi ko nga po, hindi na ako kailangan i-train to talk in front of people because I’ve been doing that in the past five years. I’ve experienced, I’ve talked and I’ve seen the problems in the communities because I am a crime beat reporter. I’ve seen their struggles. So, I don’t have to study pa or pretend to know what they’re going through kasi nakikita ko po talaga yun.

“My trainings in journalism involve integrity, accountability and pagkakaroon ng paninindigan. I think that’s something a Binibini should be aside from being empowered. Dapat alam mo rin kung anong nangyayari. And that’s helping me in my preparation for the coronation night.”

Bb. 35 Diana Mackey from Nueva Ecija divulged that she was born pre-maturely: “I worked so hard for this. I feel like right now, I’m more prepared, I am more ready, this is a different Diana. I’ve joined pageants before, a couple of times before, but now it was different. This time, I’m in it to win it. Before, I was in it for the experience but now, I am ready to win the crown and for the responsibilities behind that.”

The former Pinoy Big Brother housemate added that her stint in the reality show helped her gain more confidence and it made her “open up more to people and to be more comfortable with myself.”

Bb. 40 Roberta Angela Tamondong from San Pablo, Laguna is a former ballerina and she is a miracle baby (she was born with a hole in her heart but was healed from it): “Here in Bb. Pilipinas, you have to be passionate. I think I am a perfect fit in winning one of the four crowns in Bb. Pilipinas because I am passionate, I am driven, and I advocate for environmental awareness. And I think that’s something that other people should know about, the climate crisis is still relevant and we need to take action on it as soon as possible to prevent climate change from happening in the future.”
