MANILA, Philippines — Pwedeng Tayo, Anthony Rosaldo’s third single under GMA Music, made it to the Top 9 spot on iTunes Top Charts after it was released on July 9. A collaborative effort of composers Vehnee Saturno, Davey Langit, Jonathan Manalo and Edwin Marollano, the song was single-handedly recorded by Anthony at his home.

“It was challenging because I am a perfectionist,” The Clash alumnus explained, “so without someone professional to guide me, medyo tumagal kasi parang every track was not good enough. So I had to redo it again and again to make sure that the quality was okay. Swerte ko rin that I already invested in equipment even before the pandemic.”

The people behind the production (the musical arranger, the backup vocalists, the guitarists and the vocal processor) also did their jobs in their own homes, while the final mixing was done in the studio.

Pwedeng Tayo, written during the first-ever FILSCAP Master Camp, is about two people who find love at the wrong time.

“I fell in love with it the first time I heard it. It is fresh, easy listening and has a very relatable story,” revealed Anthony, “so different from my two previous ballads. I wanted to reinvent my music and give my listeners a new one to fall in love with. This single is really a blessing kasi sino ba naman ang gustong maglabas ng song amid the pandemic. I hope the whole Philippines, if not the world, will sing my song.”

Anthony said he takes his craft seriously and learns from watching veteran artists.

Does he watch his own performances? Anthony said yes, admitting that they give him solace whenever he is feeling down.

“I’m a self-critic. I feel sad when I doubt if I’m doing the right thing, especially when I review performances in The Clash,” shared Anthony who was named Most Promising Male Recording Artist of the Year for his debut single Larawan Mo under GMA Music at the 51st Box Office Entertainment Awards, a recognition given by the Guillermo Mendoza Memorial Scholarship Foundation, Inc.

Apart from recording at home, Anthony has learned how to cook during the lockdown.

“I found out that I’m a good cook,” he claimed. “I learned a lot from watching cooking videos online. Natural na pala sa akin na marunong pala akong magluto. Dati ang alam ko lang mga sinigang, adobo. My latest specialty is baby back ribs with special sauce.”

(Pwedeng Tayo is available for downloading and streaming on Apple Music, Spotify, YouTube Music and other digital stores worldwide.)
