Luane & Carlo will be happy parents in May

The couple was wed in November last year in a hush-hush civil ceremony, seven months after Carlo proposed to Luane during a fireworks display in Disneyland (Anaheim, California).

You can’t help but swoon over this picture of newlyweds Luane Dy and Carlo Gonzales obviously taken on a beach showing Carlo lovingly touching the tummy of Luane while looking tenderly at each other. This photo from Luane’s Instagram celebrates motherhood and, as what 1994 Miss Universe Sushmita Sen said in her winning answer, “the essence of a woman.”

Luane and Carlo started going steady 10 years ago but their relationship was not so publicized because they seldom, if ever, talked about it. When they got married in a civil ceremony on Nov. 28 last year, it was so hush-hush (reported as a “blind item” in this section) that only Luane’s Eat, Bulaga! co-hosts knew about it, although not one of them dared, so to speak, spill the beans. Only the couple’s families witnessed the event.

The picture of Luane in all her pregnant glory surfaced on her Instagram only recently. She’s set to deliver (baby’s gender not revealed) sometime in May. She’s turning 34 on Jan. 25 and she and Carlo (turning 30 on Aug. 14) have a good reason to celebrate.

It was Carlo who happily announced on his Instagram how he proposed to Luane in April last year during a fireworks display in Disneyland (Anaheim, California), saying, I asked her to marry me in the happiest place on earth because for her, I know it will surpass that happiness a thousand times over. Oh, and she said yes! Eight years ago, I met the girl of my dreams. On this day, I asked her to marry me. Soon, I will call her my wife and we will start a family. This is, by far, the happiest day of my life! I love you, Luane!

In a 2015 interview with PEP.ph, Carlo shared that he and Luane experienced ”ups and downs” just like any couple and it depends on the character of both parties how to deal with each obstacle. “We have a solid foundation, our love for each other. It all boils down to that. When the going gets rough, your love for each other will see you through.”

Luane and Carlo are both Kapuso. Carlo appears in the network’s TV shows while Luane, aside from Bulaga, also co-hosts the morning show Unang Hirit. Carlo is Dingdong Dantes’ second cousin to get married, after Arthur Solinap who married Rochelle Pangilinan (they have a little child).

Luane was born in Cauayan, Isabela, to a pure Chinese father and a half-Filipino/half-Spanish mother. She started as a model at 14 and appeared in commercials. She was a sophomore (taking up Accountancy) at FEU when she ventured into showbiz, initially appearing in various shows on ABS-CBN (The Wedding, Precious Hearts Romances: Somewhere in My Heart, etc.). In 2017, she was taken in as regular co-host of Bulaga after she appeared as guest on the show’s Jackpot en Poy segment.

“Her sunshiny disposition and pleasant personality definitely add color to Bulaga,” noted the noontime show’s avid followers.

Because of her delicate condition, Luane sometimes begs off from appearing in Bulaga.

This early, let’s give the soon-to-be parents a toast!
