Lanvin in Manila: ‘Essence of femininity’

Bernard Lanvin with Glecy and Bienvenido Tantoco of Rustan’s

Bernard Lanvin, inheritor of the great name in French haute couture and perfumery, visited Manila in 1975 to present his summer collection at the Hyatt Regency. Lanvin came upon the invitation of Bienvenido and Glecy Tantoco of Rustan’s.

The Lanvin style has been described ‘as an idea of the very essence of femininity.’  That required the grasp of the right fabric. ‘If the fabric is right, three pins are enough to hold the whole dress in place.’

If the Lanvin couture and perfumery have become famous through the years, the credit belongs to Jeanne Lanvin, who founded her House with sheer creativity, refinement and femininity.

And if the House of Lanvin has become even more famous during these modern times, credit belongs to Bernard who says, ‘Our name is our main fortune, but we definitely wish to be a young and dynamic company.’ — RKC
