ABS-CBN launches new shows

ABS-CBN announced its line-up of new shows in a trade event at Marriott Grand Ballroom where advertisers had front row passes and a first glimpse of the Kapamilya network’s upcoming TV and movie offerings.

Reality TV show winners Darren Espanto, AC Bonifacio, Sheena Belarmino, Janine Berdin and the TNT Boys opened the night with their electrifying performances. Tawag ng Tanghalan’s seasons one and two winners also fired up the stage with their powerful vocals.

More talented stars will surely make waves on television with the new show Star Hunt, to be hosted by Kim Chiu, Alex Gonzaga, Robi Domingo and Melai Cantiveros. The doors of Pinoy Big Brother are also set to open for its eighth season and introduce the newest housemates.

Upcoming reality TV shows also include Kids’ Choice, where today’s brightest kids take the role of judges giving their take on the performances of talented contestants, while Minute to Win It: Last Man Standing will make its comeback and thrill viewers again with its exciting and heart-pounding challenges.

Halik stars Jericho Rosales, Yen Santos, Yam Concepcion and Sam Milby graced the stage along with Aegis, who sang a medley of timeless hits. The new teleserye centers on the entangled lives of four different people who will fight for the love they are deprived of. An instant hit among viewers, the show recorded a national TV rating of 18.2 percent last Monday (Aug. 13) versus its rival show which rated 10.6 percent, according to data from Kantar Media.

Meanwhile, the tandem of Joshua Garcia and Julia Barretto will star in their first teleserye together in Ngayon at Kailanman. The series, which premieres on Aug. 20, is a classic Filipino tale about destined lovers, who must fight all odds to be together. Also part of the upcoming teleserye is veteran actress Rosemarie Gil, who makes her grand comeback on TV.

Also listed in ABS-CBN’s new line-up of shows are romantic-comedy series Play House, starring Zanjoe Marudo and Angelica Panganiban and Starla, which marks the return of the Philippine’s queen of teleseryes, Judy Ann Santos, on television.

The kilig-fest continued as the trailer of the much-awaited Taiwanese series Meteor Garden teased the advertisers. Viewers will soon be able to relive the Chinese reboot of the love story of Shan Cai and Dao Ming Si exclusively on ABS-CBN this Aug. 20.

Meanwhile, Anthony Taberna greeted the guests and talked about his new show Pareng Partners, where he and co-host Jorge Cariño live and narrate the lives of ordinary Filipinos every Saturday afternoon.

Kapamilya will also get an exclusive look at the red carpet of the most glamorous evening in the Philippine entertainment industry, the ABS-CBN Ball 2018: Share the Love, on the Metro Channel.

Aside from TV shows, viewers should also catch Star Cinema’s new flicks set to dominate the big screen this year. Kathryn Bernardo and Daniel Padilla will take on more mature roles in their movie The Hows of Us, directed by box-office director Cathy Garcia-Molina.

The Bagani cast including Zaijian Jaranilla, Matteo Guidicelli, Liza Soberano, Enrique Gil, Sofia Andres and Dimples Romana.

Angelica and Carlo Aquino, on the other hand, will rekindle their love in their film Exes Baggage, directed by Dan Villegas under ABS-CBN Films’ new production brand Black Sheep. 

Angelica and Carlo captivated the audience with their quips and banters that made the audience giddy.

The night also highlighted the network’s continuous success in its digital shift. ABS-CBN’s entertainment YouTube page has already garnered more than 10 million subscribers, the first to do so in the country, and the third in Southeast Asia.

ABS-CBN TVplus also continues to increase its reach as it sold over 5.4 million black boxes and launched five free new channels, namely Asianovela, Movie Central, Jeepney TV, MYX and O Shopping.

At the end of the program, the advertisers had a meet-and-greet and photo op session with the Kapamilya stars.  They had a taste of ABS-CBN’s experiential entertainment first hand with the brightest Kapamilya stars. They lounged together, took selfies and engaged in lively chats.
