MANILA, Philippines — The sixth season of Pilipinas Got Talent (PGT) reeled off to a successful start, with the two-night pilot episode readily yielding a Golden Buzzer from judge Freddie M. Garcia (FMG), who immediately sent a seven-member group of guys from Baguio to the semi-finals.
The Bardilleranz so impressed FMG that he didn’t hesitate to press his one-time Golden Buzzer for the hunks, who wowed the audience in their pull-up bars exhibition.
“I found it impressive and really entertaining,” commented an excited Vice Ganda, also a judge in the competition. While the sole female judge, Angel Locsin, said what The Bardilleranz showed was “very exciting.”
The pilot episode was loaded not only with impressive presentations, but also with different and never-before-seen acts. Thirteen-year-old arnis expert Janah Jade Lavador got fourth judge, Robin Padilla, to join her in an arnis exhibition onstage.
“Tinalo ni Datu Lapu-Lapu si Magellan dahil diyan sa art na ‘yan,” Robin remarked. Host Billy Crawford and Vice Ganda were also invited to try the Filipino martial arts. Subsequently, all judges gave four nods to Janah.
The Shadow Arts Theater Organization (SATO) from Palo, Leyte delighted the four judges with their shadow play meant for Marawi victims. They did “a very powerful means of disseminating the message of the ugliness of war,” said Vice. The group earned three strong approvals from Vice, Robin and Angel.
The all-male quartet Mama’s Boyz from Sta. Mesa got shrieks and laughter from the audience while doing their towel dance. Host Toni Gonzaga said, from where she was watching on the side of the stage, “Dito ang pinakamagandang puwesto. Ang dami kong nakitang ube-halaya.”

Meanwhile, the Type 1 Dance Company earned four nods from the judges. The big group that donned colorful Hawaiian polo shirts displayed their dance craze. “Simple lang, pero bago sa mata ng tao,” said one member of the group before their performance.
“Oh my gosh!,” Billy gushed. “Five seasons na naka-lipas, pero first time ko, ngayon lang ako naka-witness ng ganyang dance group.”
“Lodi! Petmalu!,” was Vice’s remark.
Sixty-seven-year-old Angelisa del Rosario from Cebu City proved her mettle in zumba. Then, Vice enjoined her to do the Budots Dance, with the other judges and the hosts. “Palagay ko ikaw talaga ang hinahanap ko,” FMG teased.
Pole balancing was what the Cebeco II Blue Knights displayed in their death-defying act. The guys, who earn their living by climbing electric posts, showed they could also do an entertaining Hagibis dance act of Katawan segued to Baby Shark, atop high electric posts.
That gave a jaw-dropping reaction from the hosts and judges. “Napaka-gandang tignan. Sabay-sabay kayo doon sa itaas,” commented Angel.
“Ngayon lang ako nakakita ng ganyan,” noted FMG.
“Ang galing nito,” said Toni. “Kaka-iba ito. Kapag sinabing bago, ito ‘yun.”
The first two episodes of PGT Season 6 were aired from Cebu City. The subsequent episodes will be taped from the Tanghalang Pasigueno in Pasig City.
