Masha & the Bear now in Manila

Masha & the Bear will run at the Theatre Solaire until New Year’s Eve with two daily shows at 2 and 5 p.m.

MANILA, Philippines – The lovable Russian character Masha with her best friend and mentor Bear that has been watched over a billion times by kids around the world has finally landed in Manila. Masha is also the unofficial mascot of Russia the way Mickey Mouse is to the US, Hello Kitty is to Japan and Pororo is to Korea.
Our journey with Masha & the Bear started last year when it was offered to my wife, whose business is children’s shows and cartoon characters featured on the Disney Jr. TV network like Pororo and Dibo the gift dragon. She didn‘t know Masha & the Bear from Adam but unbeknownst to us, our four-year-old daughter Coleen has been diligently watching Masha’s escapades on YouTube.

Coleen exclaimed in excitement when she saw the picture of Masha and right there and then, my wife made the decision to bring her to Manila. Bringing a Russian production to Manila was a tedious job. It took months of negotiation and involved flying in hundreds of kilos of props and costumes including a Russian production staff that barely spoke English from Moscow.
All that trouble was worth the effort because the show is great with lots of singing and dancing not to mention interacting with the audience.

The story revolves around Masha’s quest for the Happiness chest that takes her around the woods asking various animals what made them happy. The story is not only fun to watch but offers good values for kids. A photo session is the free perk offered to all ticket holders at the end of each show.
Masha & the Bear will run at the Theatre Solaire until New Year’s Eve — Dec. 29, 30 and 31 with two daily shows at 2 and 5 p.m. The show is presented by Circles Entertainment and Solaire Resort & Casino. Tickets are available at Ticketworld online, all Ticketworld outlets and at the Ticketworld concierge at the Theatre Solaire.
