The five singing heartthrobs of BoybandPH

The search for the Pinoy Boyband Superstar ended Sunday night with the judges and the super fans putting together five singing heartthrobs in a group called BoybandPH.

Niel Murillo first earned a spot in the group Saturday night after earning the highest combined scores.  

“Sobrang saya ko po. Nagpapasalamat ako sa Panginoon, sa mga hurado at sa mga taong sumusuporta sa akin,” said Niel after his name was called.

Russell Reyes, Ford Valencia, Tristan Ramirez and Joao Constancia were named winners on the second night of the Pinoy Boyband Superstar:  The Grand Reveal.

Each of the five winners received P1M cash, a Yamaha motorcycle, an exclusive contract with ABS-CBN’s talent development arm Star Magic and a recording contract with ABS-CBN’s online music hub One Music PH.

Pinoy Boyband Superstar, a talent-reality search for the ultimate Pinoy boyband launched last September with Billy Crawford as host, brought in aspiring singing heartthrobs aged 14 and above with charm, singing talent and great personality.

The superstar judges were box-office superstar Vice Ganda, international K-Pop sensation Sandara Park, pop-rock star Yeng Constantino and original heartthrob Aga Muhlach.

Before facing the superstar judges, the aspirants had to woo and impress the female fans with their charisma, personality and talent. Once they got a score of 75 percent and above, they moved to the next round and perform for the judges.

Seven heartthrobs made it to the finals. Mark Oblea and Tony Labrusca did not make it to the Top 5.

After the performance of Niel and Russell last Saturday, Yeng said the future holds bright for both of them. She said, “Kayo ang magiging boses ng binubuong boyband. I am proud of you both.”

The judges also commended Tristan, who was described as the dark horse of the group. After his performance Saturday night, Aga said he would not be surprised to see Tristan in the Top 5.

Vice and Yeng cited Joao’s “X-factor” in connecting with the audiences. While Vice Ganda pointed out that Joao’s voice sounds ordinary, it is his charm, dancing skills and looks that make him deserving to be part of the boyband.

“Eye candy ka. Yung tulad mo ang maghahakot ng mga milyong-milyong tao para tumili at sumuporta sa bandang binubuo namin,” he said.

Yeng added, “May kapangyarihan ka. There is something about you. You have an X-factor to stay in this industry.”

The five members of the newly formed BoybandPH ended the show by singing their first single that is aptly titled We Made It.

Sandara sang Kiss with the finalists last Saturday, while Your Face Sounds Familiar Kids judge Ogie Alcasid performed Sumayaw Sumunod the following night.
