Happy JT sings Can’t Stop The Feeling!

SOUNDS FAMILIAR - Baby A. Gil - The Philippine Star

Justin Timberlake must have been so terribly missed that fans sent his new song to No. 1 the moment they heard it. After all, the last time they heard anything musical from JT was three years ago when the acclaimed, big-selling albums The 20/20 Experience and The 20/20 Experience 2 of 2 were released. That set included the hits Take Back The Night, TKO, Pusher Love Girl and Suit And Tie.

Timberlake has since then been scarce from the music biz. He chose to busy himself with some films, Inside Llewyn Davis and Runner, Runner, lots of television, mostly cracking up in the Late Night With Jimmy Fallon show or racing Tom Hanks for the most guest slots in Saturday Night Live and doing daddy duties. He and his wife, actress Jessica Beal, have a baby boy named Silas Randall Timberlake. It is no wonder then that when JT decided to sing again he got a No. 1 seller.

And what a song it is. Titled Can’t Stop The Feeling! (Note: That exclamation point!), it must be the most contagious explosion of happiness heard in a long time. Well, okay, maybe since Happy by Pharrell Williams a few years ago.  But I would say happier. Justin sounds like he is singing with this joyous expression on his face. I dare you to check out the music video and you will see how he is indeed beaming like sunshine as he dances light-footedly.

Can’t Stop The Feeling! was co-written by Timberlake with today’s hottest producer Max Martin, who is the guy from Sweden with lots of No. 1 records. Their song comes from the soundtrack of the upcoming animated feature film Trolls, which has a late 2016 play date. I do not know how many of you remember the trolls but the movie is inspired by those dolls with huge bulging eyes and pointed hairdos that were very popular during the ’80s.

JT provides the voice for the lead troll. This should be a fun movie. He is also committed to doing more songs for the soundtrack. So expect Trolls music to be a huge presence in the hit charts starting now with Can’t Stop The Feeling! at No. 1. Besides, the star-studded cast also includes a lot of pop figures who can be counted on to do a song or two.

These are Anna Kendrik of Into The Woods and the Pitch Perfect films, Gwen Stefani, James Corden, Russell Brand and Icona Pop, among others. And they are also singing Can’t Stop The Feeling! with Justin in a perky second video released last week that also radiates happiness throughout.

Believe you me, Trolls may still be a long way off but with Justin and his co-stars all riding the bandwagon, there will be no escaping Can’t Stop The Feeling! for us. Timberlake and Martin have a No. 1 seller that is sure to become one of the year’s biggest hits. See how well it is doing in this week’s hit list.
